|Welcome to Sri Lankan School
|The Sri Lankan School Doha was inaugurated in October 2001, under the patronage of H.E. Meerasahib Mahroof, then Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Qatar.
The school is affiliated to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Qatar and runs on a non-profit basis. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees and the Patron of the school is H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Qatar.
SLSD is approved by the Supreme Education Council as the Sri Lankan Community School and the SEC conducts spot inspections to ensure that the school meets the SEC standards of education.
We are also an Approved Centre by Edexcel U.K. which gives the opportunity for our Students as well as for external students to sit for IGCSE and GCE exams in our school.
The school started as a nursery with 25 students and has progressed over the years to above 600.
We are proud to state that our first batch of students will sit the IGSCE exams this year. SLSD offers education from Pre-grade and prepares students for the IGSCE & GCE exams under the British National Curriculum.
The school follows the Edexcel Curriculum and the Students in Year 2 & Year 6 sit for the Key Stage (SAT) exams administered by Edexcel U.K, to evaluate the student academic level.
Montessori methods are used to enhance the studentís independent learning in Pre-grade and Lower Reception classes that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own individual choice, under the guidance and expertise of their teachers.
Children in Pre-grade and Lower Reception learn through discovery, using materials to cultivate ideas and motivate learning and self-discipline.
The school ethos encourages the children from Upper Receptions onwards to sit the IGCSE Exams and we use teaching materials and text books recommended and approved by Edexcel.
We are fortunate to have enriched, qualified and experienced academic staff to train and prepare the students for the British National Curriculum examinations.
